I won't have to go into work this weekend after all. Hooray!

So now what will I do with my days off? Probably clean the toilet.

Subject:Couches!
Time:8:31 pm.
Music:Shimmy - System of a Down.
So two of my roommates are moving out at the end of the month, and the landlord has rounded up a few potential replacements. Apparently one of these people, if she moves in, will be bringing some living room furniture. So that means pretty soon, there might actually be places to sit in my apartment. So when that happens, I insist that any of you who will be in the area in the upcoming months come and visit me! (As of now, I think the only one of you who definitely will fall into that category is Allie, so Allie, haul that butt of yours on over! And Hannah, if you do end up in Boston rather than DC, the same goes for you!) Also, I hopefully will be able to initiate a reorganization of the refrigerator and other storage space in the kitchen, so I could actually keep around food and drinks to serve.

I cleaned the bathroom in my apartment today, and man, was that an ordeal. I don't know what the hell my roommates have been doing in there, but I don't think I've ever seen anything more revolting (not even Allie that one time!) Seriously, I almost vomited twice, I kid you not.

Subject:Not quite better homes and gardens, but good enough for me
Time:7:00 pm.
Music:Venus - Air.
I finally have some furniture for my room, and it is about time. I was getting mighty sick of sleeping on the floor. I still need to get a few more things, like a desk, but it is a big improvement. Now if only my roommates would get off their asses and clear out some space for me in the refrigerator...

Subject:Moving!
Time:5:50 pm.
It is just about official: I am moving to Newton this week. Well, beginning to move, that is. I'll wait until everything is finalized to provide further details, but I'll be going to a pretty nice neighborhood. Those of you who are in the Boston area should visit sometime! (Once I'm settled I'll figure out what sort of public transportation there is near the apartment, if any of you want to come over.)

Subject:Maybe I'll discover gravity or something
Time:3:40 pm.
Just got back from checking out an apartment in Newton. It was nice, the neighborhood was great, and it was in a very convenient location commute-wise. Might end up living there, we'll see!

Time:11:49 am.
Guys, I can't believe it, but

I got a job!

It's a temporary job at Genzyme in Framingham, and I will most likely be starting very soon. So now it's apartment-hunting time. I'm going to try to find one in Newton or someplace thereabouts (along the pike between Framingham and Boston), and until I find one I'll probably stay with my relatives in Cambridge or something. Oh boy, living with Lucas...

Subject:An attempt to get my life straightened out
Time:9:35 am.
At long last, I have some sort of plan for my future, though it does not begin immediately. This fall I am going to begin a biotechnology certification program at BU. It will require about four courses and should take about a year, and should give me a big leg up in finding a job. So this means that I will be moving to Boston sometime before September. If any of you are still living out there then, I hope this means I will be seeing you all more often.

In the meantime, I would like to find some sort of day job to earn some money while I am doing this (this program consists entirely of night classes, so I should have plenty of time during the day to work.) Do any of you have any suggestions of good places to look for work in Boston (online job searches, agencies, etc)? That would be a big help.

Subject:Redoing all the plumbing
Time:4:37 pm.
Music:Beck.
We are finally getting our bathroom renovated. It is mostly done now, though we did not order enough tiles so it will not be complete until sometime next week. The process has left our house unspeakably filthy, and today we are doing some cleaning up while the workers are out for the weekend. We have been spending most of the past week in Ware, which has been driving me a bit up the wall. On top of that, we got Hazel spayed on Wednesday, and keeping a puppy clean and dry (so her suture will heal well) while staying in a dingy house out in the woods with a bunch of rambunctious kids is not easy.

Lately I've been thinking that I should maybe try going back to school for a masters or doctorate. And if I do, I'm thinking I might try doing it on the west coast or somewhere else far away. I've come to realize this year, more than ever, just how much I despise winter and all that comes with it. I could use a few years living in a warmer climate. Of course, there's a lot of planning and such to do before that ever happens, but it's not like I'll be doing a hell of a lot else in the meantime.

Subject:Getting my hopes up again
Time:5:56 pm.
All right, it's '08 now. Everyone have a good new year?

I have a job interview in Marlborough this Friday. I have already had an interview with this company, and even though they didn't hire me for that they seemed to like me. Maybe this time things will work out. Would be nice if it did, then I could start looking in to moving out. Of course, if plan A doesn't work, plan B is getting a job at Staples for a while until something else comes up.

Apparently Hazel is going to make it, and we are supposed to bring her home tomorrow. Everyone here is very relieved. That puppy is quite the little trooper.

I'm still looking for jobs, but I'm hoping soon I will hear back from the ones I interviewed for. I suspect I still have to wait a while to hear back from Genzyme, as they said "two to three weeks" and it hasn't quite been two yet. The other one, though, I should probably check back in about; I'd really like it if they just said yes, and all this bother would be done with. Because man, do I ever hate writing these damn cover letters. It's very hard for me to write much when I'm just applying to a job just because I feel obligated to apply for something.

In the past few days I've been wanting to play some Civ III (probably because Katherine mentioned it) but I've discovered that I have no idea what I did with the disk. I think the last time I used it I was either in my room or in the living room, but I have searched those places high and low without success.

The puppy is really sick. She's going to be at the vet for a few days, and there's a good chance she won't make it.

Very big news in the Lincoln family this week: we got a puppy. She's a poodle-bichon mix, and she's about nine weeks old. We've decided to call her Hazel. And, seriously, this is the cutest freaking dog I think I've ever seen.

Had an interview this Friday for a job in Marlborough. The job is at the "electronic materials" branch of a company called Rohm & Haas. It's a technician position, in which I would (if I get the job) work on making additives for use in etching microchips. It seemed pretty interesting, and the interview went pretty well. Also got to have lunch with a friend of mine who is currently working there, and also was the one who told me about the job in the first place. I also have an interview scheduled for this coming Wednesday, for an engineering position at a biotech company called Genzyme in Framingham. So here's hoping at least one of these companies decides to make me an offer.

So what else is new... Went to a Halloween party at a classmate's house in Burlington this weekend. Nice to see the engineers again, as well as have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in some "apple bopping." I went dressed as a banana slug (I have another one to go to this weekend; should I wear the same costume, or make up a new one?)

Other than that, I've been spending pretty much all my time sleeping, watching movies, and doing crossword puzzles. Yes, my life is pretty rockin'.

Next week I might actually have two interviews for jobs, both of them in the eastern Mass area. Of course, this will only happen if the interviews actually get scheduled. I've had planned interviews die once they get into the hands of hr departments, so I hope this will not be the case again.

I still have not come up with an idea for a Halloween costume, and I will need one for next weekend. I guess I am waiting for the last minute desperation that produced my last few costumes. Hey, it works.

I finally got contacted about a job I applied for. They want to schedule an interview for sometime next week. I really hope this will work out. If it does, I guess I'll be moving out east sometime soon, but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

Hi everyone.

Went out to Boston to visit Katherine this past weekend, and had a grand old time. Got to try some eel at a sushi joint on Saturday, then looked at dead lobsters in jars at Harvard on Sunday. Good stuff. Oh, and anyone who hung out with Kath and me when we were in elementary school should ask her about the really awesome thing she bought for six bucks at CVS.

I've been invited to a couple of Halloween parties, so I've got a couple of weeks to come up with a good costume. Anyone have any brilliant ideas? Has to be at least as good as last year's Andy Warhol costume.

Didn't get the Cambridge job. Now I'm waiting to see if the NY people want to bring me in for an interview. Meanwhile Eleanor is now in Germany for the next two weeks, so I'll have the car a lot more often now. If any of you are in town, any interest in going on adventures?

Yesterday Eleanor and I saw a truck that had not fuzzy dice but fuzzy boobs hanging from the rearview mirror. Classy. The truck, however, was not nearly enormous as my cousin's truck, which we got to see at the big family reunion this Saturday.
